Motor yachts, as mentioned in the name, are large recreational boats with one or more engines for primary pushing. There is no…Devamı
When we sail, when the wind blows from the stern, we call the courses we do wide apaz or pupae. In these cruises, the manoeuvre that we make by changing the direction of the sails and the direction of the boat towards the bottom of the wind, i.e. towards the direction where the wind comes from our boat, is called the maneuver. The other name of the Kavança maneuver is boci tramola. After the manoeuvre, the sail boat will change its contra (the direction it takes the wind).
Why is kavança maneuver performed?
During sailing, it may be necessary to change course according to the target. This change of course may require the sails to change direction due to the wind.. Therefore, the kavança must be made. If the sails can continue with a change of course without changing direction, it cannot be said that it is a cavanca.
You have to be very careful with kavanchay
If the kavança maneuver is done clumsily and timelessly, the sails will quickly shift. Hundreds of sailors are injured every year as a result of the Kavança maneuver. Therefore, both the helmsman and the team must be organized before, during and after the cavança, and make a safe cavanca.
In the kavança maneuver, there is no depower reduction in sails such as tramola maneuvers because the wind comes from behind. Therefore, the displacement of the sails is very fast and the effect of force.
Especially during manoeuvre, a moving piece of boom that supports the main sail from the bottom should be very careful. The vast majority of injuries during the cavança are caused by a boom impact during manoeuvre. Kavança, if possible, is recommended to manoeuvre after being taken in with the iskota rope that controls the main sail. This type of manoeuvre, which is relatively slow and controlled, can be called a safe cavanca.
